Essential Functions * Coordinates food and agricultural product programs designed to promote Illinois food, livestock, grain and agricultural commodities both domestically and internationally. * Works with Illinois farmers, agricultural commodity groups, food and agribusiness companies, grain and livestock industries in developing and improving methods of promoting and marketing Illinois Agriculture by administrating and implementing various projects which may include Farm Progress Show, state fairs, food and agribusiness shows, Illinois Products farmers markets, local foods and buying missions. * Assists in developing, promoting and managing the Bureau's marketing logo, branding programs, agribusiness and farm mandated heritage programs or any other state mandate. * Facilitates contacts and interpersonal relations with multiple entities at the local and global marketing levels. * Identifies and consults with Illinois food and agribusiness companies to encourage domestic and international marketing. * Represents the department at meetings, seminars, and conferences. * Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties listed above. Minimum Qualifications * Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with coursework in marketing, economics, or public relations. * Requires 18 months of professional experience in the marketing and/or reporting of food and agricultural products, e.g., as an Agricultural Marketing Generalist. Preferred Qualifications * Prefers thorough knowledge of the techniques employed in organizing agricultural seminars, workshops, and informational programs designed to attract consumer and commodity group participation. * Prefers experience preparing agriculturally related promotional and informative materials, and to formulate other advertising methods and devices designed to create and interest in IL farm and food products. * Prefers thorough knowledge of principles and practices involved in promotions and marketing Illinois food and agricultural products. * Prefers experience organizing and conducting promotional and public relations activities that highlight Illinois agriculture. * Prefers experience with planning, conducting and participating in meeting and conferences concerned with the promotion and marketing of Illinois food and agribusiness companies. * Prefers experience in communicating effectively, in oral and written form. The mission of the Bureau of Marketing, Promotion and Grants is to expand Illinois' economy by increasing usage of Illinois food and agricultural products. The Domestic Agricultural Marketing Representative functions as a specialist in marketing and promoting Illinois raw and value-added food and agricultural commodities.
