Job Description No experience necessary, but preference will be given to applicants currently holding a valid Conductor/Engineer Certification under CFR 240/242. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Performs duties associated with the movement of rail cars: operate track switches, couple and uncouple cars, works on freight trains in yard and local operations. Qualifications & Requirements: * Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. * Work various shifts including weekends and holidays. * Able to lift, push, pull, and carry objects of various weight. * Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop and climb. * Distinguish colors and communicate using a radio. * Speak, read and write English. * Have a valid driver's license. * Subject to random alcohol and drug testing pursuant to Federal Railroad Administration Guidelines. Customers located along Conrail's lines in these shared asset areas have access to the nation's rail network through either NS or CSX. Although Conrail no longer handles commercial matters for customers, we continue to play a critical role in serving shippers and receivers as an agent for our owners. As a local rail service provider, it is Conrail's job to make sure that customers' freight shipments are safely and efficiently moved between their rail sidings and the long distance freight trains operated by CSX and Norfolk Southern.
