Job Description Are you a current undergraduate student? Do you have an interest in planning, architecture, GIS, urban studies, or a related field? Join us and grow your skills! We are currently accepting applications for a Project Management Intern in the Planning Division of the Community Development Department. This position offers invaluable experience for your resume! Duties include: assisting with Planning Division projects including housing data analysis, GIS updates, and working on action items from the Housing Opportunities Commission, and more! Requirements: * A High School diploma or equivalent (GED, etc.) * Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with studies in planning, architecture, GIS, urban studies, or a related field * Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to interact with all types of people in a political environment Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to work independently, be detail-oriented, and self-motivated/self-directed * Experience using PowerBI, ArcGIS, and Esri StoryMaps. * Data analysis experience * Intermittent access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week; September - December (with potential for extension into the spring semester). Some weeknight meetings may be required. This is an unpaid internship, which may be eligible for academic credit. Project Management Intern Recruitment Snapshot JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SCOPE Under the direct supervision of the Project Management Coordinator, assists with special projects and administrative tasks in the Planning Division of the Community Development Department. This is an unpaid internship that may be eligible for academic credit. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists with projects in the Planning Division such as, but not limited to: Analyzing housing data. Updating the Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Participating in the Invest Health initiative. Working on action items from the Housing Opportunities Commission. Assists with administrative tasks, including but not limited to taking notes during meetings, drafting documents, and managing files. Attends special outreach activities, events, or evening meetings as requested. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs related duties as required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS A High School diploma or equivalent (GED, etc.) is required. Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with studies in planning, architecture, GIS, urban studies, or a related field. Preferred experience using PowerBI, ArcGIS, and Esri StoryMaps. SKILLS/ABILITIES Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to interact with all types of people in a political environment is required. Ability to work independently, be detail-oriented, and self-motivated/self-directed is strongly preferred. Maintains prompt, predictable, and regular physical attendance. Must be able to take direction and work well with others. Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately. Must be able to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. Must be able to back-up fellow co-workers. SUPERVISION/DIRECTION RECEIVED Project Management Coordinator, Community Development Director SUPERVISION/DIRECTION EXERCISED None WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is mostly sedentary (sitting) with occasional walking, standing, and lifting less than 10 lbs. in a general office setting with a minimal presence of hazards.
