RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead, assist, coach and take responsibility in the overall effectiveness of the plant's execution of the materials management plan. Provide overall PIC/Materials Leadership in successful coordination of: NBO/Plant PIC forecasting, staffing/equipment capacity, new product introduction, MRP/ERP system issues, NBO/Plant Ops Planning, engineering change, inventory management and general supply chain leadership New Product Introduction Oversee the unit process for the production and inventory control aspects of new product development and implementation. Oversee the Project Planner role ensuring coordination between project management and unit management teams as required to execute Product Development Process (PDP) deliverables. On larger projects; when requested by the Project Manager, act as a core product team member to concurrently develop materials and production plans and to implement these plans within the project schedule. Ensure EO reporting to provide the production and inventory control aspects of project support. Supervise and assist where necessary the responsible unit planners in securing prototype parts. Assist in the resolution of new product issues between units. Engineering Changes Monitor, assist and ensure overall timely execution of Engineering Changes affecting the plant to include the oversight of: Engineering Orders for developmental manufacturing projects; the organization and facilitation of EO meetings to effectively communicate upcoming changes, and the oversight of generally assigned tasks in meeting completion dates. Monitor performance using the EO analysis database. Lean Principles Promote lean principles through the implementation of Standard Work practices and where necessary, lean culture by coaching/sponsoring Six Sigma continuous improvement projects. Materials Planning Participate and execute the unit Manufacturing Plan that includes the formulation and execution of a Plant Materials Plan. This involves development within the plant leadership team; a plan that includes inventory velocity objectives, delivery date objectives, raw, wip, and finish inventory management and tasks to support accomplishment. Team building among the plant leadership, corporate purchasing/engineering, as well as within the Plant PIC team will be necessary. Lead both floor level initiatives that promote the effective storage, retrieval and movement of material; as well as MRP/ERP enhancements for the efficient use of information in planning. Lead consistent and continuous improvement throughout the plant for releasing material in support of the NBO/Plant Materials Plan. Overall Plant Capacity Planning (Equipment/Staffing) Provide plant evaluation of production capacity given changing customer demand, staffing requirements and recommendations through collaborative teamwork through Unit leadership and the Plant PIC team. QUALIFICATIONS: * Four-year college degree. * Three to five years of experience in material control management. * Strong organizational, computer, communication, and interpersonal skills required. * Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
