As a part of Discovery's Still Image Management team, the Photo Editor will operate with a degree of autonomy to handle still photography with emphases on post-production and distribution of images. The Photo Editor will also: * Maintain trackers, air dates, assignments and priority listings to facilitate timely processing, posting and distribution or embargos * Master enterprise photo systems * Develop brand and talent awareness and familiarity with distribution partner requirements * Review & Edit deliverables: evaluate the technical quality, aesthetic value and marketability of images against network requirements and distribution partners' requirements * Deliver images into the internal asset management repositories * Create appropriate and accurate metadata * Provide image feedback to managers and brand contacts * Work with network representatives on talent photo approvals as needed * Facilitate retouching, if needed * Troubleshoot quantity, quality, data or delivery issues * Serve as image researcher * Maintain regular communications between your manager, brand contacts and other internal staff (i.e, brand personnel, Business Affairs, CD&M partners, Schedulers and Publishers, Business Affairs) * Build collaborative relationships with key business partners, including other photo teams, legal and business affairs, programming, digital editorial, PR and operations teams * Timely reporting on project progress and status * Attend all appropriate staff meetings * Partner with photo team and managers on technology needs relating to internals systems, digital image editing, scanning, image enhancement/retouching and upload software and hardware * Collaborate with Still Image Management team on other projects as assigned What do you need to have? * Ability to work a hybrid schedule (2 days onsite) out of our Knoxville office. * Associates Degree from an accredited institution. * 2+ years experience in digital photography and photo asset management with solid communicative knowledge of photography terminology * Experience with both MAC and PC platforms and knowledge of Adobe applications (Photoshop and Bridge CS5-CC preferred), SharePoint and Microsoft * Office applications (Word, Excel) In addition, we would like to have: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution * Broadcast media experience * Ability to handle high volume of tasks for multiple people and departments, maintain composure and existing image team standards, and manage competing priorities * Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions, think strategically, and maintain meticulous accuracy and attention to detail * Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external teams solid organization, and exhibit solid time management skills * Ability to perform under tight deadlines * Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback How We Get Things Done… This last bit is probably the most important!
