About the Job Casual / temp position (less than 14 hours / week), located in the Center for Farm Financial Management, Department of Applied Economics, University of Minnesota Twin Cities - St. Paul. This is a hybrid position. The University of Minnesota is currently offering flexible working options. Specifics will be discussed during the interview stage. The Center for Farm Financial Management (CFFM) provides educational programs and software tools that are practical, timely, and applicable to real-world farm situations. Products and training focus on financial and business planning, credit analysis, risk management, and commodity marketing, and are used by lenders, educators, and farmers across the United States. A particular focus is working with historically underserved farmers and ranchers, and work with these communities continues to increase. CFFM is an entrepreneurial unit primarily funded by revenue and grants. CFFM is located in Ruttan Hall on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. It is a unit in the Department of Applied Economics. It is also a part of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences and University of Minnesota Extension. RESPONSIBILITIES Position Description: Curate Repositories (80%) The primary purpose of this position will be to curate and manage online repositories for agricultural-themed libraries, adding resources as they are submitted. A deep knowledge of US agricultural production, both crop production and livestock production, is needed in order to organize materials into the proper repository. Previous agricultural experience with an academic understanding is a plus. Database Testing (20%) Research and document complex technical problems and devise user-conscious mitigations. Partner with programmers and other technical staff to implement solutions for long-term software improvements based on deep-rooted understanding of user functionality needs and requests. QUALIFICATIONS Essential The minimum requirements for this position are a BA/BS degree in agricultural business and a minimum of four years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience to equal at least eight years. Desired * Deep knowledge of US agriculture production * Knowledge of CFFM framework of repositories - Ag Risk library, Farm Answers library, budget libraries related to both crop production and livestock * Knowledge of document systems * Ability to understand and organize information related to complex farm issues * Strong ability to work independently and stay on task * Experience testing function and usability of software * Affinity for navigating new and changing technology APPLICATION PROCEDURE Apply online at http://employment.umn.edu and search for Requisition #365180.
