Position Type: TECHNOLOGY/TECHNOLOGY SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR Date Posted: 4/4/2024 Location: Lubbock-Cooper Central Office   Additional Information: Show/Hide Job Title: Network Administrator Exemption Status: Exempt - 226 Days Reports to: Executive Director of Technology Pay Range: $55,000-$70,000 Primary Purpose Administer and operate the district's central administrative computer networks. Develop, maintain, and monitor all district local area networks (LAN), wireless local area networks (WLAN), and wide area networks (WAN). Responsible for installation, testing, and oversight of all network hardware, personal computers, software, and related equipment. QUALIFICATIONS This individual should be energetic, positive, and progressive minded with a willingness to work cooperatively with supervisors, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Education/Certification: * Bachelor's degree in computer science or management information systems, or equivalent experience in network administration * CompTIA related Certifications (A+, Network+, Security+) preferred * Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) preferred Knowledge/Skills: * LAN/WAN and WiFi network design, installation, and ability to analyze issues to resolve problems * Network hardware and software applications including network servers, wireless access points, and other equipment * Ability to work with multiple operating systems and applications (i.e. Linux, UNIX, DOS, Windows, MySQL, Active Directory, iOS, macOS, tvOS, PBX and VoIP, etc.) * Ability to work with multiple network protocols (i.e. DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, mDNS, etc.) * Ability to analyze and resolve device network problems * Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: * Minimum five years experience performing network administration preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties: Network Management * Oversee the installation and testing of network hardware, software, and upgrades, and identify and resolve issues. Implement and maintain all system configurations, and ensure that system maintenance is performed. * Monitor and analyze system utilization; recommend improvements to the Director as needed. * Review blueprints to recommend the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies for all network infrastructure projects. * Identify and recommend the acquisition of infrastructure hardware and software to meet the automation and networking needs, as well as, technology goals of the District. Network Security * Develop and assist with the implementation and maintenance of security for all systems and networks. * Develop and assist with implementing backup procedures to ensure that all network and workstation backups are performed on a regular basis and district data is restored as needed. * Assist with development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan and a data security plan Technical Support * Serve as liaison to network infrastructure vendors, with supervision of the Director, to maintain appropriate product and service support. * Develop and maintain network design and configuration documentation. Other * Report to work on time daily and follow District attendance policies (Frontline and Google Chat). * Exhibit positive, professional attitude, attire, and communication at all times. * Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed. * Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. * Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. * Occasionally drive District vehicles in performance of tasks assigned by the Director. * Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and the Director of Network & Infrastructure. WORKING CONDITIONS Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors * Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computers and peripherals; instructional and digital learning equipment * Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing, occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting * Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching * Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 35 pounds) * Environment: Frequent district-wide travel; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours * Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
