UVA SoM Research Histology Core is looking for Lab and Research Technician 1 or Lab and Research Technician 2. This position will support operation of Research Histology Core, order supplies, perform routine laboratory operations, keep records and coordinate schedules with Core customers. Job Duties: * Perform similar duties to Lab and Research Aide, such as collecting specimens, setting up and performing experiments of a repetitive nature; and preparing , chemicals, reagents, and solutions as instructed. * At direction of Director or senior staff, perform routine stains, manage chemical waste, prepare buffers * Operate, adjust, and maintain specific scientific apparatuses and instruments. * Order lab supplies and maintain inventory. * Record accurate information and logs of experimental data. * Keep informed of new lab techniques. * Provide routine, technical, and administrative support to the Director. * May contact and coordinate schedules with study customers, handle information intake, and record and track results. May provide logistical support to the study. * In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience. Bachelor's degree will be considered in lieu of experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
