MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Remote work is not available for this position Mitigates part shortages through proactive execution of duties. Reviews MRP exception messages and prepares a detailed replenishment dispatch. Initiates quotations that provide supplier with specifications, quantities and delivery needs. Obtains supplier confirmation of compliance with specifications, delivery schedule, price and terms. Prepares purchase orders and obtains approval according to established signature authority levels. Places purchase orders and obtains written supplier acknowledgement of all purchasing terms with prescribed deadlines. Monitors outstanding purchase orders and ensures suppliers meet scheduled delivery commitments. Communicates confirmed deliveries and exceptions for outstanding purchases to internal customers. Resolves receiving discrepancies and communicates disposition with Accounting Department to ensure proper credits/debits are initiated. Manages freight claims to ensure timely filing and disposition with third-party logistics services or directly with carriers as dictated how services were contracted. Coordinates the return or disposal of rejected materials, ensuring Accounting Department is notified of all cost related events. Provides monthly reporting for measuring goal attainment as directed. Performs periodic updates of vendor lead times, minimum purchases, cost changes and other variables which constrain material replenishment planning and execution. Espouses a positive and productive work environment. Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions with others. Stays abreast of trends and advances applicable to commodity responsibilities. REQUIREMENTS
2-5 years purchasing experience; applicable commodity experience will be given preference. Completion of Karrass Effective Negotiating training within 90 days of employment or prior. Class attendance/training and passing the test for APICS Supply Chain Basics. Career experience that demonstrates attainment of goals and effectiveness in problem solving Intermediate understanding of purchase law, terms and conditions. Understanding of industry current good manufacturing practice requirements. Demonstrated comprehension and experience with ERP systems preferable. Bachelor’s degree in business, operations or technical field, or relevant and applicable purchasing work experience. Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications. Extremely organized and detailed oriented with excellent follow-up. ERP system experience, preferably with JD Edwards. MRP and Supply Chain knowledge. Proficient in PC applications to include: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. CPM certification desired. Knowledge of MRP a must. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and clients. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously APICS, CPM, CPIM certification preferred. Strong working knowledge of computers. WORKING CONDITIONS
Regularly required to stand; use hands or fingers to handle or feel or reach. May be required to walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch, talk or hear, sit or climb. Must frequently lift and or move up to 5 pounds & occasionally lift and or lift or pull /push up to 20 lbs. Subject to moderate noise level. Subject to high noise levels where hearing protection may be required. Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes from the machines, odor, powders, dust and other particles.
