Description Welcome to SFCM! We are seeking qualified applicants to teach the following course in fall/spring 2024-25: PDV/TAC 206 Business for the Media Composer Course Description This course helps musicians/composers prepare for and envision employment and growth in the media music industry. Students will gain an understanding of opportunities for generating revenue from composing, licensing, as well as survey the standard entities and professional roles involved in the industry. Students will be introduced to the basics of working with film and TV studios, filmmakers and producers, agents and managers, publishing, copyright, royalties, and other aspects related to developing one’s own career through media projects. This course will emphasize career readiness through the practice of planning, collaboration, and production, as well as looking at some new and emerging ways to distribute and ultimately thrive as a composer. This course runs from the week of September 3rd to December 16th and will be taught

Wednesdays 6-7:50pm . Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience Extensive knowledge of the subject matter and best industry practices Preferred Qualifications Collegiate teaching experience Knowledge of multiple styles of music and related businesses Understanding of the unique challenges that face students entering the field Professional experience as a musician Background/Experience in Entertainment Law How to Apply We prefer to receive applications through our website.
