To be eligible to enlist in the U.S. Navy, candidates must be between the ages of 18-34.

INTELLIGENCE AND INFORMATION SECURITY CAREERS IN THE NAVY

INTELLIGENCE OFFICER Analyze top-secret information, interpret spy reports, and direct the analysis of top-secret satellite imagery. Use keen analytical abilities to perceive patterns in internet chatter and ascertain the implications of the latest intelligence.

CRYPTOLOGIC WARFARE OFFICER Create warfighting options for Fleet Commanders, advise decision-makers at all levels, and achieve military objectives in cyberspace. Your knowledge of the cyber battlespace will be unmatched.

CYBER WARFARE ENGINEER Research, design, develop, test, and evaluate software and firmware for Cyberspace Operations. Apply principles and techniques of computer science and computer engineering to defend our nation’s vital computer networks.

INFORMATION PROFESSIONAL OFFICER Lead your team of Information Systems Technicians to ensure the delivery of communications capabilities by operating, maintaining, and securing our networks globally. Assist with top-secret cyberwarfare missions and discover tactical and strategic advantages afloat and ashore.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree

U.S. citizen or equivalent

Must be eligible for a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance

General qualifications may vary depending on whether you’re currently serving, have served before, or have never served before.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Officers in this community have opportunities to serve worldwide aboard ships, on bases and installations, and in Joint Intelligence Centers such as the National Security Agency or the Pentagon.

PART-TIME OPPORTUNITIES

Depending on the role, part-time opportunities may be available. Serving part-time in the Navy Reserve, your duties will be carried out during scheduled drilling and training periods, typically working at a location close to home.
