District 97 seeks a dedicated and dynamic School Social Work Intern to join our team. Under the direction of the certified school social worker, the school social work intern will support an array of evaluative, direct, and consultative/collaborative services to enhance the educational outcomes of students. Interns will carry out their responsibilities and will have the opportunity to provide services to students in assigned grades. All duties are performed in accordance with both federal and state statutes, Illinois State Board of Education procedures, and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress in support of the district's equity commitments as expressed in Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity.

Essential Role Responsibilities: Provide students with individual and group counseling to support their academic and social emotional growth. Help students learn social skills, conflict resolution and anger management and developing strategies to help them achieve their academic goals. Provide mental and behavioral health interventions to students with disabilities as well as their non-disabled peers Assist with identifying at-risk students and providing appropriate interventions Promote district-wide practices to support learning and a positive school climate Conduct ongoing behavioral data collection and analyze progress-monitoring data Assisting with the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Screen the learning environments of students, and assist with conducting comprehensive evaluations with individual students to determine their unique strengths and challenges (behavioral, emotional, academic, adaptive,) Consult with families as needed to enhance home-school collaboration Collaborate with school staff, outside providers, community programs and families to coordinate support services and gather resources. EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required Must currently be enrolled in the final two semesters of an accredited Master of Social Work Program with a School Social Work Concentration and on track to complete the program in good standing Preferred previous experience working with elementary or middle school students (based on assigned location) Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the performance of light work-which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere. The position may require indoor and outdoor supervision during varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
