A law firm located in Irvine, CA is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Patent Prosecution Technical Advisor specializing in Life Sciences. This role involves supporting the Intellectual Property Practice Group under the supervision of an intellectual property partner. The ideal candidate will leverage their scientific expertise to assist in patent prosecution, perform comprehensive analyses, and contribute to the preparation and filing of patent applications. Duties and Responsibilities: Study and analyze scientific or technical documents related to life sciences. Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Perform prior art searches and analyses, including landscape, patentability, and freedom to operate analyses. Instruct local counsel for foreign patent filings and prosecution. Apply advanced concepts across all life sciences fields, with particular emphasis and/or expertise in molecular biology and/or cell biology. Collaborate with a team of life science legal professionals to provide technical insights and support. Requirements: Advanced degree (PhD) in molecular biology, immunology, genetics, cell biology, or a similar biological science. Excellent academic credentials. Candidates completing degrees in 2024 will be considered. Proven expertise and knowledge in molecular biology and/or cell biology. Education: PhD in molecular biology, immunology, genetics, cell biology, or a related biologic science. Certifications: No specific certifications required, but familiarity with USPTO procedures and patent law is advantageous. Skills: Excellent writing and research abilities. Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication. Ability to analyze and interpret complex scientific and technical documents. Experience with patent prosecution processes and intellectual property law is a plus. Proficiency in performing prior art searches and analyses.
