General Contractor Department: Facilities Reports to: Facilities Director Location: Liverpool Full-Time: Monday - Friday Pay Schedule: Weekly Pay Non-Exempt: Compensation starts at $55,000 - $70,000 yearly depending on experience Benefits: Begin the first day after the first two full months of employment Position Summary: The General Contractor oversees all aspects of construction projects from planning through completion. This role includes managing subcontractors, ensuring compliance with building codes, coordinating project schedules, and delivering projects on time and within budget. The General Contractor must have proficiency in various construction skills, including remodeling, roofing, electrical work, plumbing, new construction, siding, masonry, carpentry, concrete work, HVAC, drywall, painting, flooring, landscaping, demolition, and tile setting. Essential Duties The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: * Project Planning and Management. * Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations. * Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities. * Ensure client satisfaction by delivering high-quality work and maintaining clear communication. * Address safety violations promptly and effectively Skills and Abilities preferred Remodeling, roofing, electrical work, plumbing, new construction, siding, managing bricklaying, stonework, and block installation, carpentry, concrete work, HVAC, managing drywall installation, finishing, and repair, overseeing painting projects, including preparation and finishing, flooring, managing grading, planting, and hardscaping, supervising safe and efficient demolition of structures, and tile setting. Minimum Qualifications * Education: A Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred. * Experience: Proven experience as a General Contractor or in a similar role, with extensive knowledge of construction procedures and project management. * Certifications: Relevant certifications are preferred. Decision Making * Decisions that address non-routine questions and situations often require investigation and research of precedents. Decisions involve multiple constituencies with competing priorities; problems are complex and require novel and creative approaches. Independence of Action * Results are defined; the incumbent sets goals and determines methods with minimal guidelines; the supervisor/manager provides broad guidance. People Management * Not responsible for supervising others. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position successfully. The physical demands for this position typically include a range of activities and requirements due to the nature of the work, which involves overseeing and engaging in various construction tasks. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently. * Carrying materials or tools weighing up to 25 pounds. * Use of hand tools, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other equipment. * Frequent use of hands for gripping, handling, and manipulating tools and materials. * Frequent standing and walking on various surfaces, including uneven or sloped terrain. * Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling to inspect work, manage tasks, and access * Climbing ladders, scaffolding, or stairs to access different levels. * Repetitive motions of hands, wrists, and arms while using tools or equipment. * Ability to reach with arms and hands for extended periods, including overhead reaching. * Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and potentially hazardous materials. * Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather conditions. * Maintaining balance while working at heights or on uneven surfaces. * Coordination to maneuver around construction equipment and obstacles. * Physical stamina to work long hours, often in physically demanding conditions Note This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this position's employee(s).
