The Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) at the University of Virginia is seeking highly qualified applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The successful candidate will be expected to: * Work closely with Dr. Matthew Gurka , new Chair of the Department, as well as other investigators and staff in the PHS department and across the School of Medicine. * Focus on methodologic research related to pragmatic clinical trials, adaptive interventions, and other study designs used in behavioral interventions and implementation science. * Receive mentoring in grant writing and will have the opportunity to engage in multiple projects, including several National Institutes of Health and foundation grants. * Obtain experience in digital behavioral interventions, remote data collection and monitoring, community-based participatory research, implementation science, and interdisciplinary team science. * Participate in the development of publications for peer-reviewed journals and grant proposals to funding agencies. * Funds will be available for conference travel and other training experiences. Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have a PhD in biostatistics, statistics or a related quantitative field, by the appointment start date. Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in R and SAS is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to work in a cross-functional team. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal of up to three years, contingent upon satisfactory performance. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
