Job Description JOB SUMMARY:The House Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of both the lobby and audience seating areas during events. The House Manager welcomes the public to the theatre and oversees their safety and well-being before, during, and immediately after events.The House Manager represents Arts & Culture ensuring a welcoming & inclusive theatre environment for all patrons and volunteers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Two (2) years of closely related experience performing similar functions in a public-facing or customer service role.Preference will be given to applicants with prior supervisory experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Motivates front of house staff to provide excellent customer service to all event attendees.• Ensures life safety of event attendees with the aid of front of house staff in case of emergency evacuation.• Resolves matters arising from patron complaints, activities, or requests.• Supervises front of house staff at events which includes orienting, training, assigning, and reviewing work performance.• Monitors the appearance and cleanliness of the lobby, audience seating areas, and other public areas and communicates with other departments as necessary to ensure a clean and safe environment.• Performs other related duties and attends meetings and trainings as assigned. Additional Information:Ability to perform physical activities, such as climbing stairs, lifting boxes of programs, walking, scanning tickets, stooping, and handling of materials.Ability to lift 40 lbs repetitively. Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to the duration of a shift.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including ability to maintain composure under stress. Comfortable answering usher and patron questions and patience to resolve service issues. Additional Information IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION:*This position requires employee's flexibility for Nights, Weekends, Holidays* TEMPORARY POSITIONS: An "At Will", FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month. * Must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month. * Are not eligible for County benefits except as otherwise provided for by policy. * Are not considered merit employees. * Are "at will" employees who may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pretermination heraring.
