Campus Overview Kettering Health Main Campus * Kettering Health Main Campus, formerly Kettering Medical Center, is the flagship hospital of Kettering Health and has been serving Kettering, Ohio and the Greater Dayton area since 1964. * The facility includes the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Heart Hospital, maternity service with a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and level II Emergency Care. * In 2020, KH Main Campus received an "A" from the Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States. * Received 4 Star Baby-Friendly Hospital status by the Ohio Hospital Association. * Awarded as one of the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by IBM Watson Health in 2020. * Kettering received the Outstanding Patient Experience Award by Healthgrades (2017-2019). * Accredited by the American College of Emergency Physicians as a Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department. * 465-bed hospital (includes newborn beds) Responsibilities & Requirements The Patient Access Financial Counselor is responsible for ensuring all (Inpatients & Outpatients) Self Pay and or Insured Patients have access to, plus receive Financial Screening for assistance with payment options including finding a Payor Source (Medicaid Screening) for patient's Out-of-Pocket liability during the Pre-Registration process through the Point of Service encounter to and or after Discharge process. Directly communicates with patients about Out-of-Pocket liabilities with expectation of collection with a respectful, caring, and professional manner. Plus, initiates all financial arrangements, assists with payment options, payment discounts with HCAP & K4U, submit patients to Loan Program and ensures screened patients are directed to Medicaid Screening vendor during the registration process. Minimum EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred in finance or healthcare field or any related field of study. Minimum Work ExperiencePrevious 2 years of registration experience required.One or more years of customer service experience required. Required SkillsDemonstrates Competency in working in teams and ability to effectively communicate at all levels. Ability to function in high paced often stressful environment and or circumstances while maintaining a respectful, caring and professional manner. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong third party and self-pay collection experience preferred. Proficiency in using computer software; i.e. EPIC, Excel, Microsoft Word and email. Proficient in phone skills and customer service knowledge.
