Job Description: The Academic Coordinator for Student-Athlete Academic Services is responsible for assisting the Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services in developing and administering a comprehensive student-athlete enrichment program designed to assist all student-athletes to effectively maximize their academic potential and personal growth, ultimately resulting in a degree in their chosen field of study. Primary Responsibilities: * It is the responsibility of the Academic Coordinator for Student-Athlete Academic Services to coordinate, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of the academic support service programs for assigned sport teams, including but not limited to, academic advising, providing educational programs, scheduling and monitoring study hall sessions, academic progress, tutoring and degree completion. * Annually and at mid-semester, assist with providing educational orientation programs for all incoming and returning student-athletes regarding policy and procedures, academic expectations and academic progress. * Implement, administer and coordinate study hall sessions and attendance for all assigned sports. * Assist with the employment and evaluation of study hall monitors and tutors. * Work with Athletic Compliance Services in all matters relating to NCAA academic eligibility and recruiting. * Assist with eligibility certification and the continuing eligibility process. * Assist with University, Conference and NCAA nominations and awards. * In conjunction with the athletic senior administrative staff, the SUNY Title IX Compliance Officer, annually attend the mandatory sexual violence prevention program as required by federal, state, SUNY and University policies and procedures prior to or at the beginning of the academic year Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: * A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution * A minimum of 2 years as an academic advisor at the college level * A demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and compliance issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics * Strong interpersonal, organizational, administrative, verbal and written communication skills are required, with a specific legislative writing style. * The ability to work with people in a multi-ethnic environment is required. * The ability to compile data and prepare, write and review reports is required; must have excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Office, ARMS and NCAA applications. * The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those other cultures or backgrounds * The scope of this position requires weekend, evening and possible holiday hours. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's Degree from an accredited institution * Division I academic advising, tutoring and/or academic counseling experience * Previous experience with Life Skills programming as well as experience with People Soft programming and GradesFirst.
