The department of Education Policy & Social Analysis is seeking a Course Assistant (CA).The Course Assistant will have the opportunity to work closely with a faculty member in performing academically relevant services in support of the course and classroom setting.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Course Assistant will have the opportunity to work closely with a faculty member in performing academically relevant services in support of the course and classroom setting.
Assist in the preparation and organization of course materials, including syllabi, lecture slides, handouts, and online resources
Collaborate with the instructor to ensure the smooth delivery of course content
Facilitate discussions and study groups outside of class
Respond to student inquiries and provide academic support
Assist with course administration, such as scheduling and organizing course materials
Attend regular meetings with the course instructor to discuss progress and feedback
Collaborate with the instructor to develop or enhance course content, assignments, and assessments
Provide feedback on course design, learning objectives, and teaching strategies based on student feedback and instructional best practices
The Course Assistant will be required to attend all course lectures and may be required to attend meetings or support students
Procure media services i.e. overhead computer projectors as needed
Process book orders
Prepare and distribute course materials, put course readings on reserve in the library, post course materials and assignments on Canvas
* Please note: Course Assistants may not teach or grade papers and assignments
* No student may be a course assistant for a course in which he/she is enrolled as a student
* Both U.S. Citizens and international students are eligible for this position
This position is not eligible for tuition credits

Scheduling
Student work schedules are based upon the needs of the department and the student's academic schedule. Students should discuss their schedule with the hiring manager/supervisor during the interview process. Hiring managers/supervisors will make every attempt to accommodate students' needs.
Work Limitations
During the academic year students may not hold appointments or any combination of appointments totaling more than 27 hours per week

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be primarily a TC student registered for at least one course
Must be able to abide by Teachers College academic and personnel policies and guidelines, including FERPA, Student Confidentiality Agreement and the Student Privacy Requirements
Must be able to commit to work the required minimum number of hours
Previous experience (if applicable)
Strong knowledge and understanding of the course content or subject area
Ability to convey complex concepts clearly and provide constructive feedback.
Willingness to take on new tasks or responsibilities as required.
Ability to adapt to different teaching styles, course requirements, and student needs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Social Media
Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff
Strong presentation skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Strong computer, research and presentation skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to complete assigned projects with minimal supervision
