Overview Responsible for the media buying of the organization and media placement strategy in all markets within the current footprint. Develops and implements media plans with various media groups. Ensures strategies are cohesive with marketing campaigns, synchronizes with proposed launch dates and effectively targets strategic demographics data for various campaigns, products and services. Leverages data and market research from various sources (both internal and external) to negotiate appropriate placement opportunities for Credit Union marketing. Fosters productive business relationships with key contacts and stakeholders at various media groups within each market. Stays abreast of strategic opportunities and evaluates proposals from media companies for potential fit with current strategic objectives. Provides relevant and key competitive insights in each market. Regularly coordinates with other internal departments to ensure timely and effective activation takes place of marketing strategies. Ensures delivery deadlines and relevant design specs and details are appropriately communicated to internal design team. Works with Public Relations to collaborate on paid media appearance dates, proposed discussion topics and talking points. May assist during times of crisis connecting Credit Union representatives with appropriate media management personnel. Conveys dates and details of media opportunities that involve community outreach efforts or potential charitable contributions with our Events Management Department and/or Charitable Foundation staff. Assists in planning of these joint initiatives and events. Attends coordination meetings with other marketing leadership to align plans and analysis. Reports on media placement in each market and performance metrics related to each campaign and media buy. Provides ROI statistics related to organizational objectives. Incorporates any relevant market data that Credit Union leadership should be aware of. Keeps record of signed agreements and finalized proposals. Provides relevant data to assist in budget planning and forecasts. Manages and maintains media buying budget including updated dashboard reflecting funds earmarked for future media schedules and campaigns. Processes and codes invoices through appropriate accounting software. Responsibilities Oversees media buying activities for the organization. * Develops and executes media placement strategy for the Credit Union for all markets in the current footprint * Coordinates and measures reporting metrics ensuring effective performance that align with campaign and organizational objectives * Utilizes member segment data to build targeted media schedules that coincide with campaign dates Collaborates with internal departments to ensure successful marketing efforts * Attends appropriate meetings to provide applicable information is communicated to other areas like delivery deadlines, design specifications, talking points and formatting details * Provides insights and recommendations to designers to help facilitate appropriate creative direction matches desired audience * Works with Public Relations to ensure paid media opportunities compliment current strategy and PR staff is aware of appearance details Cultivates impactful business relationships with media groups * Evaluates and reviews potential proposals and media packages to make certain they support current marketing strategies and enterprise objectives * Gather relevant industry information regarding emerging trends and competitive activities within each market * Assist PR staff in connecting with media management as needed during times of crisis or extraordinary circumstances Designs and delivers appropriate media reporting and findings * Ensures Senior Management, relevant business owners and leaders within the Credit Union are informed of key placement opportunities and competitive landscape * Incorporates market research and pertinent industry information to assist in strategic decisions * Identifies emerging trends that may affect marketing efforts for the Credit Union * Benchmarks performance against industry standards and appropriate historical comparisons Manages budget for traditional media buys * Updates dashboard allocating for earmarked funds on projected future buys and proposals * Processes media invoices in appropriate accounting software * Assists in budget forecasting and annual planning Manages Media Relations staff * Provides leadership to personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication * Conducts internal meetings as needed including staff meetings, one on one meetings, performance evaluations, and trainings * Directs, schedules, and coordinates department functions * Ensures department personnel are well-trained and effective through regular instruction regarding policy, procedural, regulatory changes, and best practices * Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate. Interviews, hires, assigns personnel and oversees timecards and scheduling Responsible for related duties as required or assigned * Works to help support other areas of the Credit Union as needed * Completes special projects as assigned Qualifications Training/Education/Certification: * Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Marketing, Communication and/or a related field Required Knowledge: * Complete knowledge of Credit Union products, services, systems, policies, and procedures * Understanding of advertising and media standards in local markets * Business and management knowledge * Understanding of analysis techniques, models, and reporting * Knowledge of media performance management * Negotiation and contract management * Identifying and mitigating potential reputation risk * Awareness of the competitive landscape * Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills * General understanding of marketing strategy Experience Required: * Five plus years' applicable experience in a marketing or advertising role * Two plus years supervisory responsibility Skills/Abilities: * Excellent analytical abilities * Familiarity with creating reports and interpreting data * Strong desire to continuously enhance media buying approach * Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills * Proven ability to collaborate, lead and influence cross-functional teams * Results based focus * Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills * Ability to build relationships of trust * Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines * Outstanding leadership abilities * Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities * Keen decision-making skills * Exceptional creative abilities * Sharp technical skills * Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word * Familiar with Nielsen, WorkFront, Adobe, Google Analytics, Tableau and/or other media data and reporting platforms
