Job Category Engineering & Science Position Summary A highly motivated engineer/scientist is needed to identify and develop new material data science and data-driven technologies that address current and future business needs. A senior Professional position applies advanced knowledge of a job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex. Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: * Researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to build data driven models for the engineering value chain and inform business decisions. * Developing digital tools to facilitate application of data and fundamental mechanisms for material development. * Contributing to the creation of data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical analysis, machine learning, and deterministic fundamental models as primary analysis methodologies to build materials performance focused predictive models. * The establishment of "digital first" material design workflow for product innovation, utilizing predictive modeling and advanced physicochemical analytical data to improve and expedite polymer and compound development. * Scientific programming support for lab automation workflows. Required qualifications * The candidate must have a background in data science, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, materials science, engineering, or chemistry. * Demonstrated expertise in computational methods and data science. * Significant proficiency in the statistical analysis of experimental data. * Significant proficiency in scientific/technical programming, including languages like Python, R, SQL, and MATLAB. * Track record of successfully using/developing data management and visualization tools. * Automation of computational tasks and demonstrated knowledge on how to scale these up. * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams. * Exceptional communication and technical documentation skills. Preferred qualifications * Demonstrated experience in chemometrics, QSPR/QSAR, material informatics, cheminformatics, or similar technologies. * Hands-on experience in chemical structure-property relationship development. * Demonstrated ability to develop stand-alone and/or web applications. * Proficiency with version control and software deployment. Education/Experience Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a master's degree; or a PhD in a related field; or equivalent work experience in data science, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, materials science, engineering, or chemistry.
