Recruitment Number 5661 Working Title Assistant Professor - Computer Science & Computer Engineering Classification Title ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Proposed Salary to be Offered Appointment Percentage (Budget) 100% Position Summary The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, College of Science and Health, Department of Computer Science invites applicants for a full time academic year tenure track Assistant Professor to start no later than Aug 25, 2025. We seek a colleague who will be a dedicated teacher, scholar and mentor for students in addition to strong and dedicated service to the university, college and department. Primary responsibilities include teaching coursework in computer science and/or computer engineering at the undergraduate and graduate level, engaging in an active program of scholarship and professional service. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of teaching and research skills. The Department encourages candidates from all areas of computer science and computer engineering to apply. General position summary statement for UWL faculty positions: Under general supervision of the department chair, the person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, and advising students. In addition to preparing for and holding classes, teaching involves staying current in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students' work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. The individual is expected to maintain an active, on-going program of scholarship appropriate to the discipline. In addition, this individual will provide service to the department, college, and university and is likely expected to provide service to the community and/or the profession. Yes Required Qualifications Candidates for the appointment should have or be near to completing a doctorate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field by the start date. Doctorate completed no later than the end of the first academic year. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates that provide evidence of a strong academic publication record, the ability to teach in emerging fields of computing, curricular development, supervising student projects, involvement in service activities, involvement with professional organizations, and interview indicative of ability to be an effective instructor. Preference will also be given to candidates having research expertise that complements rather than overlaps existing departmental expertise.
