Platform Engineering's purpose is to enable Netflix to scale effectively and empower our technical talent to focus on building innovative experiences for our members, partners, and creators around the world. We do this by providing a highly available, reliable, secure, compliant, and performant platform of data, software, and infrastructure solutions that: 1: Meet the needs of our growing business 2: Accelerate the productivity of Netflix engineers, scientists, and data users 3: Maintains cost-efficiency that is at most linear to the growth of our business We are looking for a Technical Program Manager intern for the Platform Engineering organization that will be focused on large cross-functional programs that impact almost all of engineering at Netflix. This individual will partner closely with product management, engineering managers, and other technical program managers to execute and align on programs. We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications: * Current student pursuing a degree in a technical or non-technical field with an expected graduation date around December 2024 or Spring/Summer 2025 * Broad experiences with multiple technical skills across different technologies, with experience writing code and contributing to open source projects * Basic intermediate proficiency with Python, Java, or Node (at least 2 preferred) * Demonstrate strong skills with data analysis (including SQL, database querying) and data visualization (including experience with Tableau) * Beginner knowledge of semantic search and generative AI * Outstanding people skills, partnerships, cross-functional relationships Nice to have: * You are interested in partnering with multiple cross-functional teams to define technical strategy and requirements * You enjoy orchestrating programs with many moving parts - people, needs, and technologies * You have a strong desire to learn how to identify gaps in solutions, debate technical approaches and weigh-in on product vs. technology tradeoffs * You aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, pulling data to provide insight, debug issues, and monitor system health * You have a data driven mindset in your decision making * You have a functional understanding and point of view within your technical domain(s) of expertise What will you learn and do? * You will learn about real-life decision-making challenges at Netflix, and help us develop innovative solutions. * You will learn broadly about how the Platform Engineering organization at Netflix strengthens and helps optimize all aspects of our global entertainment business. * You will collaborate with stunning colleagues in the Platform Engineering and Platform Product organizations and beyond. * You will have the opportunity to present your work at key internal forums within Netflix. The Summer Internship At Netflix, we offer a personalized experience for interns, and our aim is to offer an experience that mimics what it is like to actually work here. We match qualified interns with projects and groups based on interests and skill sets, and fully embed interns within those groups for the summer. Netflix is a unique place to work and we live by our values, so it's worth learning more about our culture. Internships are paid and are a minimum of 12 weeks, with a choice of a few fixed start dates in May or June to accommodate varying school calendars. Our summer internships in 2024 will be located - depending on the team - either in our Los Gatos, CA, or in our Los Angeles, CA, office. The overall market range for Netflix Internships is typically $25/hour - $110/hour.
