Secondary Special Education Teacher/Department Chairperson (6-12) and BEAR Transition Academy The Secondary Special Education Department Chairperson will support the special education and related services at Granby Memorial Middle and High School and the BEAR Transition Academy. This includes providing specially designed instruction in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing teacher and related service providers coaching and support on IEP goals/objectives, instructional strategies & assessment; providing support to the special education team on standards, curriculum, instruction & assessment; supporting alignment of programming, process and procedures across 6-12; and providing professional development supports, particularly for new staff. In addition, this role will case manage a caseload of OOD students in private placements and magnet schools. Specific Responsibilities: Case manage out of district students who attend private placements, and magnet schools. Supervises and evaluates Special Education Teachers and Teaching Assistants in conjunction with the building administartion; Facilitate PPT meetings for 6-12. Attend PPT meetings both at GMMS & GMHS as designated by the Principal. Collaborate with colleagues to support MTSS Evaluates staff in conjunction with the Building Principal and Director of Pupil Services Plan and conduct monthly department meetings in collaboration with the Director of Pupil Services Assists in the development and implementation of professional development with the Director of Pupil Services. Assist in oversight of the BEAR Transition Academy. Qualifications: 1. Master's degree 2. Valid CT teacher's certification 3. Minimum of three years teaching experience in content area 4. TEAM Mentor (preferred) 5. 092 required Placement on GEA salary schedule plus $8,000 stipend.
