Job Title: VMC Billing Manager Department: Veterinary Medical Center | Accounting The Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) at The Ohio State University is recruiting for an experienced Billing Manager. This position is responsible for accurate and efficient financial services for the VMC System, consisting of a 40 million dollar 6 hospital enterprise, and its units. This position is responsible for managing daily operations and direct oversight of client billing and auditing functions including up to 5 billing staff members. The Billing Manager evaluates effectiveness of bill auditing, billing cycle, and collections work flow and makes recommendations for and implements changes to policies and procedures, as appropriate. In addition, the Billing Manager is responsible for timeliness of charge activity audits and account follow-up and developing innovative methods for increasing staff productivity, quality, and effectiveness of revenue cycle management. The Billing Manager will train staff in all aspects of customer service, policies, procedures, and the hospital billing and medical records system and complete employee performance reviews; interview candidates, and make hiring decisions. Expectations include maintaining and updating of policies and procedures and communicating effectively and regularly to staff. This position will oversee and provide billing, collection, patient census, and auditing functions. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing customer service (internal and external) related to all aspects of billing; maintaining credit applications; preparing deposits and change orders; accounting maintenance in hospital information system; timely bill auditing to ensure capturing of all fees related to medical procedures; working with patient care units, customer service department, and practice manager to ensure complete billing, account statement reviews, corrections, and mailings; other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position with work hours Monday-Fridays on 1st shift. Daily work hours are flexible between 7am and 6pm. Position may include occasional travel to Dublin, Ohio. Background check required prior to employment. Hiring range - $47,200 - $62,050 annually Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum Education Required 3 - 5 year's managing Use of the Microsoft Office suite, excel, word, etc. Desired Experience: Veterinary or medical office setting experience preferred; knowledge of medical terminology and experience with computers and office equipment desired; basic accounting skill and/or experience desired. Additional Information: Physical Requirements: Pushing/pulling/lifting up to 40 pounds, sitting/staring at computer screens for long periods of time, exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases, works long periods of visual concentration and attention; repetitive hand motions with computer and calculators.
