Position Title: ASPIRE Peer Mentor Time Type: Part time Position Summary and Qualifications: As a part of the Saint Joseph's University Kinney Center for Autism Education & Support, ASPIRE Program students receive peer mentoring to help them become familiar with the college environment, get involved around campus and help them socially adapt to the changes. Reporting to an Associate Director of College Support, Peer Mentors will provide updates to ensure appropriate growth in communication and discussing strategies to help them in communication and academic success. ASPIRE PEER MENTOR As a part of the program, students receive this Peer Mentoring to help them familiarize with the college environment and getting involved around campus. The Peer Mentor role is responsible for supporting their paired student navigate the college environment and socially adapt to the changes. Essential Duties * Commit to a total of 3 hours per week to working within the ASPIRE Program. * Schedule and attend one hour hang out with Peer Mentee * Attend scheduled Graduate Assistant weekly supervision meetings. * Commit to an additional 2 hours a month for the ASPIRE Monthly Hang outs * Adhere to deadlines set by Kinney Center staff including the completion of field notes. * Discuss any concerns or ideas regarding Peer Mentee during supervision meetings. * Arrive on time for all scheduled time, trainings, and meetings. Minimum Qualifications Required * Completion of and satisfactory received for the Pennsylvania child abuse clearance, Pennsylvania criminal record check, and FBI fingerprints. Preferred * Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders.
