College: Louisiana Delta Community College Department: Information Technology Type of Appointment: Unclassified - Administrative/Staff Duties and Responsibilities: Design and implement network architecture to meet specific business requirements. Identify and resolve network-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and security vulnerabilities while adhering to industry best practices. Implement and maintain security policies and procedures to safeguard the network infrastructure from cyber threats and attacks. Provide patch management and vulnerability remediation for desktop and servers. Utilize monitoring tools and performance metrics to access network health, bandwidth utilization, and overall system performance. Actively participate in incident response process, ensuring swift resolution of network-related incidents and minimizing downtime. Assist in planning and executing network upgrades and expansions, ensuring minimal disruption to services during the process. Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference. Collaborate with the department to share knowledge, provide technical support, and conduct training sessions. Continuously stay abreast of the latest developments in network technology and make recommendations for improvements based on emerging trends and best practices. Travel to other sites as required All other duties as assigned Required Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Professional experience with networking equipment. Strong understanding of network fundamentals, protocols, and architecture principles. Hands-on experience with firewall configuration, IPsec VPNs, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and other security-related features. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members. Strong documentation skills for network configuration, changes, and troubleshooting processes. Able to work on evenings and weekends as required.
