Job Responsibilities Do you have a Passion for Training? Are you enthusiastic and self-driven? Then we may have the job for you! The SCDMV is looking for a License Examiner Trainer to join our team. This position is in the Examiner Training Unit, Department of Motor Vehicles Headquarters, Blythewood, SC Responsibilities of the License Examiner Trainer * Conducts classroom instruction on all classes of licenses (commercial and non-commercial) including classroom preparation. Provide hands-on training on the skills pad by performing demonstrations, evaluations/assessments on all license examiners and third-party testers. Must also be proficient in the operation of all vehicles to conduct required training. * Conducts initial and refresher training for DMV examiners and third-party testers in the administration of both CDL and non-commercial road tests and exams by demonstrating the ability to administer tests in all classes of licenses. Conducts Vehicle Inspections on commercial and non-commercial vehicles, Basic Control Skills, and Road test training and performs evaluations/assessments of examiners and 3rd party testers. * Serves as in-house consultant on policies, procedures, along with State and Federal laws pertaining to all knowledge and skills licensing. * Conducts Defensive Driver Training in Accordance with AAA guidelines in a classroom environment for all SCDMV employees who drive state vehicles, upon completion of the classroom instruction, administer a course completion assessment. * Review current vehicle test routes and recommend necessary revisions. Design and recommend new vehicle test routes as needed. * Other duties as may be required by manager. Minimum and Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree and relevant experience. Additional Requirements * Knowledge in the administration of CDL and non-CDL examinations. * Be familiar with state and federal laws relating to issuance of CDL and non-CDL licenses. * Experience as an instructor/trainer including knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles. * Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, written as well as proficient in Microsoft Office programs * Ability to implement and assist with the creation of training programs * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and the public. * Works in a climate-controlled office & types of weather to include moderate and extreme temperatures, rain, and wind. * May be required to stand for long periods of time. Some lifting (10-15 pounds), stooping, bending, crawling, and climbing required. * Overnight travel may be required. Considered essential and may be required to work during otherwise scheduled office closures Preferred Qualifications Agency Preferred * Must have a valid South Carolina CDL Class A and be at least 21 years of age. * Must be proficient in the operation of all classes of vehicles, to include motorcycles. * Must obtain Class B Passenger endorsement if currently a Class A license holder or must be able to obtain a Class A and Class M license within one year of employment.
