Job Title School Psychology Intern, 10-month (non-benefitted temporary position) Salary: $25,000 Stipend for the 2025-2026 school year FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Supervisor of Student Services - Behavioral and Mental Health JOB SUMMARY Three full-time school psychology internship positions are available for the 2025-2026 school year. The school psychology intern will provide a range of school psychological services at the direction of their field-based supervisor. Services provided will align with the school psychology intern's training program and the needs of Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS). The school psychology internship is designed to meet the standards of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS At the direction of their field-based supervisor, the intern provides a range of school psychological services consistent with the NASP Practice Model. Essential job functions may include but are not limited to the following: * Conduct formal and informal student and classroom observations. * Attend IEP, Student Services Team (SST), and other school-based team meetings as appropriate. * Consult with administrators, parents, outside providers, teachers, and other school personnel regarding a student's academic and/or social/emotional/behavioral concerns. * Provide counseling services to identified students with social/emotional and/or mental health concerns. * Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and assist school teams with the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs). * Conduct psychological assessments following professional best practices to plan appropriate services and interventions for students. * Engage in problem solving, assessment, crisis intervention, and training activities to serve the needs of students and staff. * Provide staff development activities on related topics, as determined by the field supervisor. * Attend School Psychology and Student Services staff meetings as scheduled throughout the school year. * Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * Enrolled in a NASP-approved graduate program in School Psychology. * Completed an appropriate field-based practicum experience. * Eligible for School Psychology internship as determined by the applicant's graduate program. * Outstanding recommendations from at least three professional references (at least one from a graduate program faculty member and one from a field-based practicum supervisor). * A valid driver's license and use of a functional vehicle. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Ability to build relationships through interpersonal communications with school staff and families. * Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. * Ability to work with persons from diverse backgrounds. * Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. * Ability to organize, prepare, and multi-task. * Ability to navigate a variety of operating platforms to facilitate record-keeping and communication. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The school psychology intern works a full school day and is expected to be on duty on all days when school is in session and teachers are on duty (190 equivalent working days). The intern notifies the field supervisor and other staff as appropriate when variations in the schedule are necessary. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Medium Work: Exerting moderate but not constant physical effort to perform medium work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects and material (up to 75 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly), visual perception and discrimination, the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, perceive and discriminate color, perceive odors, and require oral communications. WORKING CONDITIONS Employees in this position work in an environment where the employee must deal with crisis situations that require major decisions involving people, resources, and property.
