Responsibilities* The Banerjee laboratory at the University of Michigan seeks a research investigator with expertise in redox biochemistry to participate in a rigorous research program focused on sulfide signaling, using cellular and mouse models. The successful candidate will play a key role in studies that focus on hydrogen sulfide to elucidate how the intestinal sulfide oxidation pathway regulates physiology, gut microbial ecology, bioenergetics and behavior. In addition to carrying out bench research, the candidate will supervise and train junior and new members of the group and collaborate with other laboratories and research personnel. The candidate will also play a central role in evaluating research findings, preparing research papers for publication, presenting data at scientific meetings, and applying to the appropriate funding agencies to support their research within the first year. Candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree in biochemistry or a related field, plus a minimum of four years of relevant postdoctoral experience, with proficiency in the following areas: * Mammalian cell culture techniques and animal studies * Redox biochemistry with an emphasis on metabolic analyses * Microscopy * Record of productivity as demonstrated by authorship in high quality peer-reviewed scientific publications Required Qualifications* Candidates are required to have a doctoral degree in biochemistry/biotechnology or a related field, plus relevant postdoctoral experience, with proficiency in the listed responsibilities.
