Transforming the Future with Convergence of Simulation and Data Journeyman Computer Systems Engineer/Architect Job Summary: Our client is looking for a Journeyman Computer Systems Engineer/Architect. This is a contract position. Wide-ranging understanding of application, system administration, and network solutions with familiarity of Department of Defense (DOD) IT environments. You will be a valued member of a well-rounded, experienced medium-sized team within a flexible hybrid (remote and/or contractor site location) working environment with the potential for limited ad hoc travel. All Corporate Electronic Document Management System (CEDMS) applications require continued maintenance, security upgrades as DoD mandates, and functional enhancements as required by the customer base. This team will be responsible for maintaining the DFAS CEDMS application instance(s), supporting operations, and performing services for all application system environments (Development, Staging, Production, Continuity of Operations) that are required for the application upgrades, research and development, testing, training, system maintenance, application security maintenance, system interface setup and maintenance, and consultation support across all modules. In addition, the applications maintain approximately fifty (50) established system-to-system interfaces transmitting data to/from over the Secure File Gateway (SFG), direct SFTP and/or EOM/DEPCON. New interfaces will be required as the CEDMS applications onboard new customers. * Apply technical expertise to perform tasks across multiple project assignments, including systems management and integration functions. Design and develop solutions to general application problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. * Support the development of architectural products and deliverables for the DFAS CEDMS enterprise and operational business lines. * Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting innovative solutions to problems. Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable. * Provide high-level architectural expertise to managers and technical staff while maintaining the integrity and security of enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks. Utilize architecture products to shape/inform solution requirements in support of acquisition objectives and align architectures to the customer's strategic goals/objectives (roadmaps, mission capabilities). * Apply external interface requirements to architectural products; document external operational and system data exchanges. * Broad-based experience in the systems engineering lifecycle and supporting methodologies. Be able to apply this experience to specific cyber security initiatives relating to architectural design and development. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or similar technical discipline. * Hands-on experience with System Architect (SA) or similar architecture tools with an overall understanding of DoDAF. * At least 3-5 Years of demonstrated experience producing architecture products and conducting systems engineering/architectural analysis on a large IT acquisition program. * Strong written and communication skills are required for collaboration with Gov't counterparts and key stakeholders, including fellow Computer Systems Engineer(s)/Architect(s) and other functional/technical team members alike. * Ability to work independently and within a team environment. * All contractor personnel accessing CEDMS applications will require a Tier 5 investigation for IT-I access, however, this role does not require an active security clearance. Preferred: * Current CISSP, Security +, INCOSE or other relevant cybersecurity and engineering certifications a plus * Broad knowledge of DFAS I&T and/or other DOD architectures and missions, both as-is and future vision. * Familiarity with DISA operations and security procedures. General experience or understanding of the DOD/DISA/RMF cybersecurity domain. * Demonstrated operational experience with DOD systems, applications, and/or platforms housed within a security-cleared environment. * Demonstrated experience developing with advanced systems engineering concepts and/or tools. * Seeks to improve personal job-related knowledge and departmental process by studying state-of-the-art computer system engineering tools, architectural techniques/concepts, and participating in educational opportunities, and/or reading professional IT publications.
