Job Description: The Teaching Assistant for Furniture Fabrication supports the faculty of record in achieving a safe and supportive classroom environment in MassArt's woodshop. The TA supports the course instructor by preparing materials and providing additional oversight of students throughout project fabrication. The TA is responsible for assisting students with safely operating machinery, helping them to achieve project outcomes, and providing input from planning through to critique. Salary: $25.00 per hour Course Description for Furniture Fabrication: This course combines experience in the fine art of furniture making with an exploration of the procurement, preparation and use of sustainable materials. Students develop their woodworking skills in both traditional joinery techniques as well modern production methods. Each student is responsible for generating and building an original design that represents an understanding of efficiency and sustainability. The focus is on functional pieces for living, learning and working spaces.
