School of Medicine Established in 1930, Duke University School of Medicine is the youngest of the nation's top medical schools. Ranked sixth among medical schools in the nation, the School takes pride in being an inclusive community of outstanding learners, investigators, clinicians, and staff where interdisciplinary collaboration is embraced and great ideas accelerate translation of fundamental scientific discoveries to improve human health locally and around the globe. Composed of more than 2,600 faculty physicians and researchers, nearly 2,000 students, and more than 6,200 staff, the Duke University School of Medicine along with the Duke University School of Nursing, and Duke University Health System comprise Duke Health, a world-class academic medical center. The Health System encompasses Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, Duke Health Integrated Practice, Duke Primary Care, Duke Home Care and Hospice, Duke Health and Wellness, and multiple affiliations. Our lab is seeking a motivated individual to join us as a technician for one year, with the potential to transition into a Ph.D. program at Duke University within our lab after this period. We particularly welcome applicants who aspire to pursue their doctoral studies with us. Our lab focuses on cutting-edge research involving the Neurovascular Unit (NVU)-on-a-chip technology to study various neurodegenerative diseases, brain tumors, and immunotherapy. For more detailed information, please refer to our recent publications in the lab website ( https://sites.duke.edu/crosstel/). If you have experience with traditional animal or cell culture models for CNS diseases, you will find that our NVU-on-a-chip allows for more efficient research by studying interactions with neurovasculature. The NVU-on-a-chip model is already established, and we are continuously improving its throughput in terms of sample preparation and assay readouts. While prior experience with cell culture and standard bioassays is beneficial, it is not required; we are willing to provide training. Initially, you will assist our postdoctoral researchers with their projects, and we expect you to conclude your work with a simple publication or a presentation at a conference. If there are experts in your research field at Duke or nearby universities, I can help arrange co-mentoring opportunities. Interested candidates should send their CV, including a list of references, a brief introduction of themselves, and a research plan for working with us via email. Minimum Qualifications Education Work generally requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field. Experience None required above education/training requirement.
