Police Officer III, Community Liaison, Police Sergeant AFSCME Unit Position Reports to: Police Captain, sergeant role Assistant Chief of Police, community liaison role Functionally supervised by: Chief of Police, Deputy Chief of Police Summary: The Community Liaison Police Sergeant is a sworn member of the BSU Police Department who serves to make connections between the BSUPD, student groups, and other members of the university community. The CL helps the BSUPD by actively reaching out to foster trust between the department and community it serves; and by serving as a member of the department's community outreach and crime prevention team. The CL must be knowledgeable about services and programs offered by the BSUPD and the University to develop an understanding of community needs. The CL must be able to communicate with students, with a particular focus on students of color and other minoritized groups. The Community Liaison Police Sergeant will further serve as a member of the patrol supervisor staff and assume all roles and responsibilities of a shift sergeant as set forth in the CPO III job description. Full- Time, AFSCME position Tour of Duty and Schedule: In accordance with the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement This is an AFSCME unit position and is subject to the terms of the current AFSCME collective bargaining agreement. Tour of Duty and Schedule: TBD by shift bidding process; subject to change according to departmental needs. (Full-time, 12-month AFSCME position) Must be available for off-shift overtime, including compulsory callbacks. Area of Assignment: University Wide - Bridgewater This is an AFSCME unit position and is subject to the terms of the current AFSCME collective bargaining agreement.
