JOB SUMMARY: Conducts fire inspections and plan reviews to identify and document deficiencies in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures. Conducts fire prevention education classes to ensure the fire safety of Fort Bend County residents. Investigates complaints on commercial properties for fire and life safety hazards. Prepares written reports of all activities performed. Responsibilities * Participates in Annual Fire Safety Inspections. * Conducts fire drills, writes inspection reports and conducts fire prevention inspections. * Reviews plans for new construction and progressive inspections. * Signs for and be held accountable for equipment. * Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. Qualifications * High School Diploma/GED; * Two-years job related experience. * Strong computer skills. * Strong verbal and written skills. * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials. * Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize own work and ability to complete assigned tasks within tight deadline. * TCFP Basic Fire Inspector and TCFP Plans Examiner I. * ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 preferred. * Minimum of a Texas Class C Drivers License. SALARY: Part-Time, $20.00/hour, up to 29 hours per week CLOSING: Upon filling position All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
