About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. All ECE undergraduate and graduate programs are in the top five of the most recent college rankings by U.S. News & World Report. In addition to the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, ECE also has permanent operations at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in France and Georgia Tech-Shenzhen in China. Graduate students who spend at least one semester each at three Georgia Tech locations (Atlanta, Lorraine, and Shenzhen on three continents (North America, Europe, and Asia) can earn the Georgia Tech Global Engineering Immersion Program (GEIP) Certificate when they receive the Georgia Tech M.S. degree. Over 110 ECE faculty members are involved in 11 areas of research and education; bioengineering, computer systems and software, digital signal processing, electrical energy, electromagnetics, electronic design and applications, nanotechnology, optics and photonics, systems and controls, telecommunications, and VLSI systems and digital design; and the School is either home to or a key player in almost 20 research centers and consortia. Location Atlanta, GA Job Summary The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a Professor in the area of Computer Engineering. The selected incumbent will also hold the termed Micron Technology Chair in Advanced Memory Systems Design. The current term for the Chair is set to 5 years. The School is seeking exceptional senior applicants demonstrating outstanding potential for research accomplishments, alongside a strong inclination and passion for teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, candidates should possess a keen interest and prior involvement in applying their research to real-world scenarios. Ideal candidates will boast a proven track record of research excellence in the field of computing systems design, particularly focusing on memory systems development using next generation packaging and heterogenous integration technologies. This encompasses emerging memory technologies, integrated logic and memory structures, data centric compute architectures as well as expertise in modeling, simulation, and hardware implementation of system software on next-generation computing platforms. Moreover, the successful candidate is anticipated to commit to a 20% consulting role with Micron Technology, in addition to their full-time position with the School of ECE. Responsibilities This position's primary responsibility will include research, teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, and service to the institute and to the community. In addition to a full-time role in Georgia Tech's School of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), this position will provide a consulting opportunity with Micron for up to one day per week. ECE anticipates that the Micron Technology Chair Professor will facilitate extensive research collaboration with Micron by advising students and developing curriculum tailored to the requirements of the computing industry. Required Qualifications Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications The chosen candidate is anticipated to possess a globally recognized reputation as a researcher in computing systems. Additionally, ECE expects the individual to demonstrate a robust track record of effectively translating research findings into practical, industry-focused solutions.
