Overview We are seeking a full-time Public Relations Specialist in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for focusing on messaging and PR-content creation for one or more Garmin business segments, including automotive/mobile, aviation, fitness/wellness, outdoor and marine and building awareness of Garmin products by developing compelling and well-written press releases, media advisories, company statements, quotes and more for use in print, broadcast and online media. Essential Functions * Drive awareness of Garmin's business segment products and demonstrate their unique advantages of compelling design, superior quality, and best value to members of the media and general public * Work closely with Garmin's Business Segment Board to develop/execute advanced or complex PR strategies/programs that are aligned with the segment's goals, including press releases, media advisories, product pitches and company statements and quotes * Communicate applicable strategies/programs to Garmin offices/teams in other countries and assist in translation and localization of messaging when needed * Lead efforts to make Garmin the global leader within the respective market * Attend/represent Garmin at industry tradeshows and PR events * Assist in planning/executing large media events surrounding new product introductions, tradeshow activities and other special events * Communicate a deep understanding of Garmin's product line and the competitive landscape * Collaborate with Garmin's Social Media Manager and Content Creators in developing market-related content for the company's social media channels * Assist with other business segments' PR needs as necessary and work with appropriate associates to react quickly/accurately to communication needs in absence of manager * Provide mentoring to Media Relations Associates as appropriate * Assist the Corporate Communications team and Communications department in other markets and areas as needs arise Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field AND a minimum of 1 year of public relations, marketing experience or equivalent work experience * Demonstrates a working knowledge of Garmin products and the market(s) served * Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and excellent presentation skills * Displays compelling writing skills and knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines * Willingness to travel to trade shows and media events * Must be a highly organized self-starter able to manage multiple projects/meet deadlines with minimal supervision, and exhibit outstanding professionalism, judgment, and integrity Desired Qualifications * Experience in/enthusiasm for navigation, consumer electronics, wireless and activities associated with Garmin products and services * Experience with digital/social media Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
