ABOUT THIS POSITION Over 48 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2023, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact of $44.3 billion annually. The Aviation Department has a vacancy for an Airport Museum Manager (Management Assistant II). This position is responsible for overseeing one of the largest airport museum programs in the United States. This position and the PHX Airport Museum is a part of the Guest & Employee Experience Section of the Public Relations Division. The Airport Museum Manager manages the public art program for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, one of the ten busiest airports in the nation, in addition to planning and directing the development of all the Museum exhibition space in the Sky Harbor Rental Car Center and two general aviation airports. The position is responsible for the preservation, care, and display of approximately 1,000 works of art in the Phoenix Airport Museum permanent collection, supervises all professional City staff who create exhibitions, and maintain the Phoenix Airport historical archives. IDEAL CANDIDATE * Ability to motivate and empower a small team. * Ability to produce documents written in the English language with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar. SALARY Pay Range: $67,849 to $116,022 annually. Hiring Range: $67,849 to $105,248 annually. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The minimum qualifications listed above, plus: * Contract management experience. * Experience managing archives. * Experience with public speaking. * Experience with program or project development. * Experience working in a fast-paced environment or airport. * Experience working with public art programs, maintaining public art installations, and being an art curator. * Experience managing or coordinating contracts with any of the following: arts professionals, institutions, design professionals, or artists. * 3 years of experience: * In art education and community outreach. * Working in leadership and management. * Working with Arizona art and/or culture. * Working in a museum program, developing, and implementing exhibitions. * Working with placement, maintenance, and relocation of an art collection. * In museum marketing and public relations, writing, and overseeing production of promotional materials. * Bachelor's degree in Art, Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, or a related field preferred.
