Assistant Materials Manager Reports to: Materials Manager Department: Materials Job Status: Full-Time / Salary Mobility Profile: None Position Summary: We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, reliable team player that can add value to our Materials Department. The Assistant Materials Manager is responsible for the purchasing of production material, demand and supply planning, purchase order requisitions, ERP purchasing, assisting in cost savings and the RMA process to ensure the highest level of performance. This position works closely with the production team to eliminate shortages and assist with the organization of materials. The Assistant Materials Manager also assists in growing and managing vendor relationships to best meet the needs of the facility. Duties / Responsibilities: * Plan, create, and expedite purchase orders as required. * Maintain adequate stock levels while assisting the company in achieving inventory goals. * Problem-solve and manage supply information relating to purchasing and receiving; must develop a good working knowledge of the ERP system. * Analyze sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements. * Manage inventory, levels, schedules, and availability of selected items, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules. * Review work-in-process material reviews from production floor. * Communicate with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department and supervisors on materials status and production planning issues. * Conduct continuous inventory reviews. Verify on-hand against ERP and lead time. * Weekly follow-up of past due orders with suppliers. * Assist in cost savings initiatives and supplier performance feedback. * Help develop and reinforce proper inventory practices. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: * Must be at least 18 years of age. * Be able to read, write, and speak English. * High School diploma or equivalent (GED), required. * Exceptional math skills: including reasoning skills required to investigate problems and develop APU's (average per unit usage). * Good communication skills: ability to work with a wide range of people including Team Members, vendors, and management. * Time Management: ability to multi-task between the different responsibilities will be important due to daily interaction within multiple groups. * 1-3 years' prior relevant experience. * Must have experience with Microsoft office applications, specifically in Excel. * Excellent project management and follow-up skills. Preferred Qualifications: * Bilingual (Spanish) * Analytical skills, ability to solve problems and/or offer alternative solutions. * Must be available to work overtime and weekends. * Experience using ERP/Oracle systems and applications in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred Salary: * Based on experience. Physical Demands: * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. * Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling. * Work environment is not temperature controlled and may result in exposure to extreme temperatures.
