Description: Within the Computer Science Department provide career advising and programming for UIC engineering students seeking internships, co-ops, and full-time employment. Conduct career related workshops and presentations providing career education, trends, and program information. Collaborate with staff to coordinate and implement events. Provide direct supervision of student employees in absence of associate and assistant directors. Duties & Responsibilities: Provide counseling/advice and information to current and potential students about department programs and the requirements at both undergraduate and graduate levels, ensuring their success and fostering student retention Assist in update and maintenance of student records and archival. Oversees reception area, performs administrative tasks as assigned. Organize, update and maintain student and administrative calendars, student records, student forms, student databases, LISTSERV, promotional materials and others related to special projects. Check department student web pages for up to date content and advise on changes. Filter student correspondence and answer or refer to the appropriate staff/office for further review. Assists with planning and operation of student recruitment and retention events Assist in preparation of TA application for hiring and placement. Verify completion of hiring and new hire of TAs. Work with students and instructors to ensure timely and accurate submission of undergrad timesheets. Complete other special projects as assigned Minimum Qualifications Required: * Bachelor's Degree* * Bachelor degree, additional education, training and/or work experience in a distinct academic discipline or area of specialization may be designated by the Employer.
