Job Skills/Licenses Primary Purpose: Performs duties under general supervision to landscape, maintain, and clean up school grounds, and maintains athletic fields. Qualifications: Education: Clear and valid Texas driver's license Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to communicate effectively Read and interpret routine written or printed materials Basic math skills Ability to effectively use garden and hand tools Knowledge of safety practices and procedures Ability to operate power-driven equipment Experience: One to two years experience in landscaping and operating motorized equipment. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Employment: Mows, edges, trims grass, trees, and shrubs at the site assigned. Plant grass, trees, shrubs etc. Water, fertilizes, spray weed control, etc. and performs other landscaping/grounds work as needed. Assist with preparing and marking all athletic fields. Performs periodic checking on all outside areas at District sites. Picks up litter and empties trash cans within all assigned athletic fields, open playgrounds and parking lots. Assist with snow removal and spreading of ice melts on walkways. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Reports any major damage to the supervisor. Responsible for duties after regular working hours such as athletic events and use of outside facilities. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises grounds team while out on locations.
