Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections - Corrections Services www.doc.louisiana.gov ALLEN CORRECTIONAL CENTER Kinder, LA THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED AS A PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF LOUISIANA STATE GOVERNMENT (State Employee) This position may be filled as: * DETAIL: The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. * TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT: This position may be filled by temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment. * PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT: Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected. A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in a correctional or penal institution; in a headquarters office having overall jurisdiction over correctional or penal institutions; or in a Prison Enterprises headquarters office.   2. A baccalaureate degree plus three years of experience in a correctional or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, and rehabilitation or classification of offenders in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility and/or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Captain in State service.   3. A baccalaureate degree plus three years of experience in Prison Enterprises with the responsibility for the security, custody, and rehabilitation of offenders in a position equivalent in the scope of responsibility and/or complexity of work performed to Prison Enterprises Quality Assurance Manager, Prison Enterprises Regional Manager, Prison Enterprises Industries Manager, Prison Enterprises Marketing Manager, Prison Enterprises Agriculture Manager and above.   SUBSTITUTIONS: Additional professional or sub-professional experience in qualifying fields will substitute for the required degree on a year for year basis.   A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience listed under any option.   A Ph.D. will substitute for two years of the required experience listed under any option.   Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience.   NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.   NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.   In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified. FUNCTION OF WORK: To administer the security, medical, treatment, or administration services program or any combination of these programs at an adult correctional facility.   LEVEL OF WORK: Administrator.   SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Broad direction from a higher level Administrator.   SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Direct line over lower level staff.   LOCATION OF WORK: Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Corrections Services, Office of Adult Services.   JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from lower level jobs by overall program responsibilities assigned.   Differs from Corrections Assistant Warden 1 or 3 by responsibilities assigned and/or complexity in program areas. EXAMPLES OF WORK: EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.   Serves as an assistant Warden over security, treatment, or administration.   Evaluates facility needs and maintains security or treatment staff.   Reviews problems with subordinate staff.   Analyzes performance of assigned staff.   Evaluates current policies and programs for improvement or alteration to meet changes in assigned areas.   Reviews serious and unusual occurence reports.   Reviews written complaints from offenders.   Reviews offender records to recommend or deny trusteeship or other privileges.   Reviews and recommends staff organization for assigned program areas.   Prepares and submits reports on crimes committed inside the facility. Works with officials of local, state and federal units of law enforcement regarding criminal activity that occurs within the facility.   Responds on a 24-hour basis to significant unusual occurrences at the facility.   Assists in budget preparation and justification of needs of program area.   Conducts staff meetings and staffing reviews.   Supervises offender disciplinary or classification functions.   Performs special functions as required.
