Job Description: THE OPPORTUNITY The Visual Designer position reports directly to the Director of Creative Services in the Trade Marketing department. Working with a team of marketers and designers, the visual designer is responsible for creating a wide range of materials to promote children's books for toddlers, middle-graders, and teens in support of our marketing, publicity, sales, and conventions teams. This position has a broad scope and successful candidates will ideally have working knowledge in graphic design for print and web, social media design, and animation. The ideal candidate is highly creative, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, friendly environment independently and within a team. The candidate is highly organized and able to multitask. They must be able to execute design solutions based on initial conceptual and visual direction. Excellent typography skills and experience building files to finished production standards using the most current Adobe Creative Suite programs are a must. RESPONSIBILITIES * Help conceive/produce great ideas and design based on creative briefs and marketing strategy * Develop design concepts independently and collaboratively, working closely with all levels of the creative team, including project managers, and art directors * Design a variety of print materials, including advertisements, logos, posters, postcards, POP, bookmarks, invitations, signage, catalogs, and sell sheets * Design a variety of digital marketing assets including website banner ads, graphics, social media posts, and animated gifs * Prepare print and digital files for production WHO WE ARE Scholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL) is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books, a leading provider of core literacy curriculum and professional services, and a producer of educational and entertaining children's media.
