Then read on. We are looking for a Senior Control Algorithm Engineer to join our Trane team in La Crosse WI, on the beautiful Mississippi River. This team is creating next generation, industry leading commercial HVAC equipment & controls. Our customers know Trane's reputation to deliver energy efficient and reliable solutions to minimize operating costs while reducing environmental impact to the world. Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added): * Work with product management and application engineering to understand product requirements * Develop control strategies and algorithms to meet or exceed product requirements * Develop technical specifications to be used by the team for software development and verification * Utilize effective communication techniques to help team members understand and implement the design strategy * Lead dynamic controls testing: test planning, lab support, data analysis * Develop and execute hardware in loop testing (real time data analysis) * Advance model driven development methods * Able to travel overnight; less than 5% of the time. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics (or related technical discipline) and at least 5 years of HVAC or control theory experience is required. * Master's or PhD degree is a plus. Key Skills or Competencies: * Classical control knowledge required (PID control, linear control, digital filtering) * Advanced control knowledge preferred (modern control theory, model predictive control, non-linear control, adaptive control) * System modeling expertise required (proficiency with Matlab Simulink, and optionally Stateflow) * Computer Skills: Java, C++, C with ability to learn new programming languages * Ability to effectively communicate with others both written and orally * Software Skills: Matlab/Simulink, Modelica, C++ programming, Python * Knowledge of HVAC, heat transfer, refrigeration systems and/or thermodynamics * Data analysis including quality control and customer problem resolution * Comprehensive knowledge of sensors and actuators * HVAC system modeling experience Compensation: Salary Range: $75,000 - 143,000 annually. This salary range is based on US national averages. Actual pay could be a result of seniority/experience level, merit and geographic location where the actual work is performed.
