Posting Number FAE1828 Advertised Title Post-Doctoral Researcher in Water Resources Engineering Campus Location Main Campus (Memphis, TN) Position Number 023802 Category Full-Time Faculty Department Civil Engineering Position Summary Opening for a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Water Resources Engineering - Development and Implementation of a Connectivity-based Framework Aimed at Prioritizing the Location of Stormwater Control Measures in Urban Watersheds The Research Group of Dr. Claudio I. Meier at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Memphis, has an opening for a postdoctoral position focusing on the development of novel methodologies for prioritizing the location of distributed stormwater control measures aimed at hydrologically disconnecting developed areas from a basin's stream network and mitigating their flood enhancing effects on basin response. Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or have successfully defended their dissertation prior to the start date) with a background in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Hydrology. The qualified candidate must demonstrate knowledge of urban hydrology, surface runoff dynamics, and established hydrologic connectivity metrics. Furthermore, the qualified candidate must possess advanced skills in geocoding, GIS, raster analysis/processing, and the management of large geospatial datasets. Familiarity with optimization techniques and accelerated computing are a plus for this position. Strong written and spoken English skills are required. The successful candidate will: (1) develop novel methodologies for the prioritization of distributed stormwater control measures aimed at minimizing the hydrologic interconnections of developed areas and streams (2) implement the proposed methodologies into software (3) provide tutoring sessions for the use of the software (4) co-advise graduate students, and (5) collaborate with writing research manuscripts and research proposals.
