Job Description Description SAIC is seeking experienced and highly motivated engineers to join our team of rocket scientists. Tired of the long commute into the Los Angeles area, SAIC has exciting aerospace engineering opportunities in the Inland Empire. The Inland Empire has affordable housing and commute times much shorter than typical commutes into the LA area since our SAIC Engineering office is located on the east side of Los Angeles. This position is located at the SAIC Engineering Center office in San Bernardino, CA, which is conveniently located within easy access to the I10 freeway. SAIC is currently the key support contractor for the Force Development Evaluation (FDE) Program to the Air Force. SAIC provides aerospace engineering analysis and modeling/simulation support as part of a multi-contractor team. SAIC is looking for an energetic and highly motivated engineer to become the next generation telemetry expert for a variety of interesting rocket programs. At the SAIC San Bernardino engineering center we are multi-discipline team of propulsion, structures, fluid mechanics, software, controls, and avionics engineers. We support the Rocket System Launch Program (RSLP) which is a United States Space Force program that provides quick access to space to other government agencies in addition to ICBM technical analysis. Working in the SBCA engineering center provides a unique and diverse opportunity to work with various launch vehicle programs (besides MMIII) and contractors throughout the country and perform independent analysis of the launch vehicle designs. Position and pay will be commensurate with skills and experience. Roles and Responsibilities (including some or all of the following): * Perform post flight verification of simulation predictions * Perform hazards analysis for various launch vehicles * Perform analyses of launch vehicle performance to ensure mission requirements are satisfied * Non-linear six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) simulation analysis * Develop, modify, and maintain software tools that predict pre-flight performance under nominal, off-nominal, and Monte Carlo flight conditions * Update models based on design changes, test results, and other data * Review and support GNC team members working a variety of missions * Present results of analyses to internal staff members, and customer * Assess accuracy data and evaluate statistics associated with error model and validation * Prepare presentations, reports, and other contract deliverables related to analyses performed Qualifications * US Citizenship with an Active DoD Secret security clearance * BS in aerospace/aeronautics, mathematics/statistics, computer science, physics, or a related discipline with 3+ years' experience in industry, or a MS in these disciplines with 2+ years' experience in industry * Proficiency with one or more of the following scientific programming languages: MATLAB, FORTRAN, C++, Python (preference given for multiple languages) * Experience with one or more of the following: missile and/or aircraft dynamics, missile and/or aircraft GN&C, feedback control theory, estimation theory, inertial navigation, Global Positioning System (GPS) (preference given for multiple skills) * May require up to 10% travel Desired Qualifications: * BS in aerospace/aeronautics, electrical or mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related discipline * Strong background in computer science, to include object-oriented programming, compilers, and shell scripting in a Linux environment * Experience with design validation and/or verification of missile and/or aircraft GN&C systems through 6-DOF simulation and/or covariance analyses * Experience in giving presentations and interfacing with customers * Experience with ICBM weapon systems Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors. SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
