* Assistant to the Principal is an integral part of the administrative staff, along with the principal, school counselor, teachers, media specialist, and other support staff. * Achieving academic excellence requires that our High School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and the community at large. * Usually assigned to support the day-to-day execution of tasks needed to keep school running smoothly, the Assistant to the Principal also supports academic programs, participates in the hiring, training, and evaluation (if appropriately licensed) of faculty and staff, develops and leads professional development (including the support of technologies to support teaching and learning), and attends to executive responsibilities such as assessment administration, data analysis, problem solving, and timely communication. * The position of Athletic Director includes leadership growth coupled with the implementation of athletic programming k-12, athletic scheduling 7-12, ability to work in scheduling software, management of student-athlete forms, consistent communication with athletic directors and administrators from other schools, ongoing participation in professional development, and communication with the IHSAA. * Oversee and manage an Athletic Council (BRV Coaches and Athletic Staff) in developing and growing various components of BRV's athletic department. * Assist the principal in developing and maintaining an effective educational/athletic program consistent with State and Federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies, and goals of the School Board; meeting and conferring with students, parents, faculty, and staff; developing alignment with other grade levels, maintaining records and files; preparing reports. * Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school; develop, interpret, and enforce corporation and school handbook rules and regulations through a restorative approach to support student growth. * Assist the principal in the transformation of the school culture into a results oriented, collaborative, and strategic learning community. * Support the principal in the collaborative development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the school's Plan for Continuous Improvement that includes MTSS. * Ensure implementation of the School Board-approved curriculum and/or curriculum independently developed in the learning management system. * Assist the principal in monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local mandates and guidelines related to local and state testing programs and the local exceptional education program. * Assist the principal in planning and implementing a professional development/growth program for teachers and staff. * Maintain and model high standards of professionalism including behavior and dress. * Participate in on-going professional development to develop and refine leadership skills. * Serve with parents, faculty, and student groups, as requested, in advancing educational and athletic related activities and objectives. * Identify the special needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of school system specialists as required. * Explain and interpret curriculum/instructional goals/data analysis and objectives to teachers, parents, pupils, and the community. * Assist teachers in evaluating methods and materials and developing effective learning plans and classroom management techniques. * Assist in coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other school support services; help conduct safety inspections and safety drill practice activities as assigned. * Serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal. * Perform related work as assigned by the principal and/or superintendent.
