The Digital Futures Institute (DFI) at Teachers College seeks an Instructional Support Associate (ISA) for the Technology Team to help maintain its documentation and support technology initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly guides, test new software with a critical eye, and contribute to keeping DFI's tech operations running smoothly. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in educational technology while honing your technical writing and software-testing skills.
The Instructional Support Associate-Technology Team plays an integral role supporting DFI's Director of Academic Technology on their projects and initiatives. The ISA-Tech Team will work directly with educational technology, both in software testing and technical writing/documentation capacities. In addition, there will be opportunities to provide support for DFI workshops, professional development, and other administrative tasks, as needed. This is a part-time hybrid position for 19 hours/week and is hired on a semester basis.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
* Write and update documentation for various technology products used at Teachers College, Columbia University
* Test new software and share findings with Tech team members
* Assist with DFI on-campus events
* Help maintain DFI's service ticket queue
* Document concerns and problems with technology as they arise
* Utilize a ticketing system and project management system to track various responsibilities
* Testing course technology and activities
* Providing administrative support as needed
* Support DFI full-time staff in workshops, webinars, and other DFI sponsored events
* Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
* Ability to write clearly and concisely
* Excellent proofreading skills
* Detail-oriented approach to written and analytical work, with great attention to detail
* Highly organized and proficient at developing organizational systems, as needed
* Ability to break complicated tasks into easily digestible steps
* Comfortable learning new technology independently
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
* Bachelor's degree
* Proficiency in Google apps
* Strong customer service skills
* Ability to work in person and virtually (hybrid)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience writing technical documentation
* Experience doing technical training
