Temple University's College of Education Department is searching for a Professional Development Workshop Leader. Become a part of the Temple family and you will have access to the following: Salary Grade: T25 Job Summary: THIS POSITION IS GRANT FUNDED. The Temple School LIFE Project for Multilingual Students in Philadelphia Elementary Schools. The acronym L.I.F.E. stands for School Leadership, Instruction and Family Engagement. These three areas are a central focus of this five-year initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of English Language Acquisition, designed to enhance the educational landscape for MLEs. The project has partnered with eight carefully selected linguistically diverse Philadelphia elementary schools to support the efforts of teachers, school leaders, and parents via a school-wide, comprehensive, sustainable, and replicable professional development model. As part of this project, 12-14 in-service teachers (grades K-4) in these selected schools host Temple student teachers and participate in a series of 90-120-minute-long workshops focused on instruction of MLEs and mentoring each year. The School LIFE Project team is seeking a Professional Development Workshop Leader to prepare and lead the delivery of these PD workshops, approximately 10 per year, August- May. The August workshop will be delivered during the day as part of an all-participant summer institute. The other workshops will be delivered on site at a school in the early evenings. Anticipated hours of part-time position: 10 hours each month, August-May. THIS POSITION REQUIRES COMPLETION OF BACKGROUND CLEARANCE PROCESS. This role involves being in schools attended by children between the ages of approximately 4-12 (PK-8). However, children may not be in the building when the person hired for this position is present. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred: * Master of Education in Teaching and Learning, Literacy, TESL, or a closely related field * 5 years of fulltime teaching in a US PK-12 public school; preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in a linguistically diverse urban school * Understanding of the WIDA Framework * Proficiency in analyzing ACCESS data * State certificate in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field * State certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language * 3 years of teaching graduate level courses or equivalency courses to in-service teachers * Deep knowledge of the ESL instructional model used in the School District of Philadelphia Required Background Checks & Clearances: * PA Child Abuse Clearance * FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check * PA State Polic Criminal Background Check * Cash/Credit Handling, Personally Identificable Information Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
