Job Summary Responsible for providing leadership and supervision of academic coaching and initiatives related activities, fiscal resources, and personnel; acts as a liaison to other instructional and student services division for appropriate student success initiatives as assigned. Under little or no direct supervision, the Program Director performs highly complex managerial and strategic work in the areas of academic coaching. Performs related administrative and supervisory work as required. This position is responsible for coordinating equity-based programs and services designed to help students maximize their potential by guiding their exploration of self, their experiences, values, motivations, and other characteristics in an effort develop personal strategies for college success. This position helps to ensure appropriate and accurate academic records, execute departmental/divisional administrative policies, and use judgement and discretion appropriately. Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications • Master's degree from an accredited institution • Must have 3+ years experience in an educational setting • Must be able to facilitate faculty work groups; organize multiple projects simultaneously; • Proficient in academic coaching mission, programs, and operational procedures • Critical thinker and problem solver; • Meet goals of strategic plan; work well under pressure; • Excellent grammar and writing abilities; • Ability to work effectively with students • Possess excellent communication and leadership skills • Ability to effectively manage relationships with staff and faculty • Ability to interpret statistical reports and prepare statistical reports when necessary • Exhibits strong positive attitude and ability to foster teamwork • Able to collaborate with others; collect, analyze and interpret data; train others on complex processes. Role and Responsibilities • Coordinates coaching services, technologies, and activities for students, including individual and group coaching services, "nudges", academic skills workshops, and Google Apps educational outreach. • Researches, develops, and designs best-practice based coaching services, curricula, strategies, methods, and programs with or without the use of technology to augment, supplement, and assist academic departments and work force programs and their students. • Serves as primary Academic Coaching Services acts as lead resource on campus to answer questions and provide information regarding academic coaching services. • Promotes and advertises coaching services to students, faculty, and staff. • Develops, tracks, and maintains the departmental budget; researches, evaluates, and approves all purchases and expenditures; prioritizes services and purchases based on instructional needs and budgetary limitations; seeks alternate sources of funding. • Maintains all departmental records and submits compliance reports as required. • Oversees coaching information and all coaching social media. • Gathers, analyzes, and disseminates data on coaching usage as well as student satisfaction with services. • Work closely with University College leadership to advance college priorities for improved student persistence of high support and other priority student populations. • Manage, supervise, and evaluate a team of certified Student Success Coaches • Anticipates and proactively plans for changes in programs and services; writes and develops plans to meet goals and objectives of the department. • Assists in identifying outreach programs and activities that can support students. • Serves as a liaison between academic coaching with a focus on improving retention and student success. • Ensures atmosphere in which the mission and vision of the institution are embedded in all practices and services for students and employees. • Collaborates with Student Affairs leadership to provide guidance in developing retention strategies. • Maintains consistent and positive customer relations, responding to internal/external customer inquiries in an efficient and timely manner. • Demonstrates an understanding of equity, diversity, and values differences and ensures that all services are developed and delivered within this framework. • Establishes and implements efficient administrative policies, programs, and procedures; develops strategic goals and objectives for the campus.
